The Department of Music serves as an incubator for musical creativity in the fields of performance, singing, composition, music teacher training, and music therapy. The department seeks to engage with local and international musical and cultural forums, and its academic staff aim to cultivate a distinguished group of musicians, educators, and researchers through its bachelor’s and master’s programs, as well as the professional diploma in art therapy. All of these programs are part of modern and advanced curricula aligned with international university standards, while preserving the local and Arab musical heritage alongside the global musical legacy. The department places significant emphasis on scientific research in addition to creative musical works. The department is equipped with various facilities that support teaching, research, and musical creativity in all its aspects. It continuously seeks to exchange local and international expertise through workshops, research teams, and participation in events and festivals at both national and international levels, striving to achieve the vision and mission of the department and the School, in alignment with the vision and mission of the University of Jordan.

Theatre arts department offers a platform for creativity, culture, and a vision that is open to both Arab and international fronts. The department offers a degree in acting and directing that aims at introducing students to theatre arts within both Arab and international contexts. The faculty staff are trained in Western and Arab universities and are active professionals in the field. The department is equipped with acting and directing studios, and library that contains Arabic and English books, in addition to DVDs for theatre plays from around the world.

| | | | | | Design and Visual Communication | Design and Visual Communication | 4 | The Department of Design and Visual Communication, a new division of the School of Arts and Design established in 2024, is an extension of the Interior Design and Multimedia Design concentrations that were originally created within the Department of Visual Arts in 2002. This new department employs an experiential approach that integrates both theoretical and practical creative processes for students within the contemporary design and visual communication landscape. The department supports the investigative skills and social responsibility of future designers who will work at the intersection of art, design, and popular culture. To achieve this objective, the department offers two specialized programs: Graphic Design and Multimedia Design. These programs are significantly aligned with various communication industries such as web and mobile design, print media, television, public relations, and advertising, thereby engaging with the general public and fostering participatory interaction in social culture. Additionally, the Interior Design program covers a range of creative industries, including interior, commercial, residential, and environmental design, as well as furniture design and other related topics.

The Department of Visual Arts was established in 2002 along with all other departments of the School. The department focuses on teaching both theoretical and practical visual arts courses of various types, with the aim of developing several key competencies, including: Enhancing students’ cognitive, practical, and aesthetic awareness and appreciation in the field of art. Promoting visual culture that helps refine students’ general artistic taste through a variety of theoretical and practical activities. Strengthening students’ abilities to conduct research and studies related to visual arts. Organizing art exhibitions, along with related seminars and critical reviews. Department InterestsDeveloping the curriculum and introducing new, contemporary courses. Attracting Jordanian, Arab, and international students. Holding workshops during the academic year and in the summer semester. Organizing annual exhibitions for students and graduates, as well as exhibitions for faculty members and lecturers. Participating in and organizing conferences, seminars, and events related to visual arts. Collaborating with leading local and Arab artists and distinguished professionals in the field of visual arts education. Engaging with the local community through activities that enhance the public’s artistic appreciation.
