The Department of Design and Visual Communication at the Faculty of Arts and Design, University of Jordan, organized a training workshop entitled “Evaluating the Daylight Design Process Using Ecotect Software." The workshop was presented by Dr. Eman Mayah, and under the patronage of Dr. Musab Al-Qudah, Head of the Department of Design and Visual, on Monday, December 15, 2025, targeted students of the Interior Design Department at the Faculty of Arts and Design.
The workshop began with an introduction to the software and highlighted its importance in designing natural lighting for interior spaces. This was followed by an explanation of the most important tools and commands within the software used to build a building model, including area, volume, window dimensions, and external variables such as reflectance and surrounding obstacles. In addition, commands related to atmospheric variables—such as solar radiation, season, date, and geographical location—were explained.
Participants then engaged in a practical application of daylight design evaluation, where they learned how to use satellite-based atmospheric data for functional and aesthetic analysis in interior design, particularly during the early stages of the design process. The students expressed their appreciation for the workshop, emphasizing its role in enhancing their understanding of modern technology and keeping pace with the digital age and artificial intelligence in interior design.
