Graphic Design and Multimedia / Project and Research

First: Graduation Project (1) – Preparatory Course

Course Nature:
A preparatory course in which the student develops research and a design proposal that clarifies the nature of the graduation project they will later implement in Graduation Project (2). The focus is on theoretical, research, and knowledge-based aspects within the field of graphic design and multimedia.

Course Requirements and Outcomes:

1. Preparing a Written Research Paper:

  • Define the project topic or type, such as: advertising campaign, visual identity, motion graphics film, interactive experience, digital application, multimedia platform, etc.

  • Present the historical and contemporary context of visual trends related to the project topic.

  • Analyze similar projects and case studies in graphic design, motion graphics, or digital experiences.

  • Document sources and references from books, websites, studies, and reports.

2. Preparing the Final Project Proposal, including:

  • Description of the project idea and visual concept (Design Concept).

  • Define the communication and aesthetic goals of the project.

  • Set technical requirements and design standards, such as color system, graphic style, production techniques, and target platform.

  • Develop a preliminary timeline for the project phases.

  • Present an initial proposal to the supervisor for feedback.

Targeted Skills:

  • Research and visual analysis skills.

  • Understanding of design principles and standards in graphic design and multimedia.

  • Developing and professionally formulating creative ideas and concepts.


Second: Graduation Project (2) – 4 Credit Hours

Course Nature:
A practical course in which the student transforms the research and previous proposal into a complete graphic or multimedia project. The course follows a clear methodology from conceptual development to professional final output.

Course Requirements and Outcomes:

1. Producing a Complete Project, including:

  • Creating core visual elements, such as:

    • Visual identity and graphic elements.

    • Motion graphics or video scenes.

    • User interfaces and experiences (UI/UX) if the project is digital.

    • Advertising or interactive materials.

2. Preparing Final Presentation Boards, including:

  • Visual system.

  • Technical explanations.

  • User flow, if applicable.

3. Developing High-Quality Digital Outputs, such as:

  • Interactive prototypes.

  • Final presentation video.

  • Brand guidelines.

4. Preparing a Comprehensive Project Portfolio, including:

  • Research and development phases.

  • Initial sketches, style guides, sketches, and visual tests.

  • Prototypes and trial versions.

  • Final documented version with all details.

Presentation and Discussion:

  • Present the final project to a committee of faculty members and industry experts.

  • Discuss the design concept, execution quality, techniques used, and effectiveness of the visual solution.

Targeted Skills:

  • Creativity and producing innovative visual solutions compatible with audience and platform requirements.

  • Developing professional outputs using specialized tools and software.

  • Presentation, communication, and visual storytelling skills with the committee and audience.​
