Interior Design / Project and Research

First: Graduation Project (1) – Preparatory Course

Course Nature:
A preparatory course in which the student develops research and a design proposal that outlines the project they will later implement in Graduation Project (2), focusing on theoretical and knowledge-based aspects.

Course Requirements and Outcomes:

1. Preparing a Written Research Paper:

  • Define the project topic or type (residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, heritage, etc.).

  • Present the historical and contemporary context of the project’s design.

  • Analyze examples and case studies of similar projects.

  • Provide the main sources and references used.

2. Preparing the Final Project Proposal, including:

  • Description of the design idea (Concept).

  • Functional and aesthetic goals of the project.

  • Design requirements and standards.

  • Preliminary timeline for the project phases.

  • Present an initial proposal to the supervisor for feedback.

Targeted Skills:

  • Research and analysis.

  • Understanding of design standards.

  • Formulation of the design idea and concept.


Second: Graduation Project (2) – 4 Credit Hours

Course Nature:
A practical course in which the student transforms the research and previous proposal into a complete interior design project, following a clear methodology from study to final delivery.

Course Requirements and Outcomes:

1. Producing a Complete Design Project, including:

  • Architectural and execution plans.

  • Lighting, electrical, and material plans.

  • 3D models and final presentation boards.

  • Application of the design concept developed in Project (1).

2. Preparing a Comprehensive Project Portfolio, including:

  • Research and development phases.

  • Initial sketches and visual experiments.

  • Documented final models.

Presentation and Discussion:

  • Present the project to a committee of faculty members and external experts.

  • Discuss the design idea, design solutions, and execution quality.

Targeted Skills:

  • Creativity and producing innovative design solutions.

  • Developing professional plans.

  • Effective use of design software.

  • Presentation and communication skills with the committee.
