The visual arts programme at the Department of Art and Design focuses mainly on practical training and developing experienced creators in the principal fields of the visual arts, termed “concentrations", as follows:
1. Drawing and painting concentration: the students are first taught basic skills in drawing and painting based on classical academic rules, and then guided towards free and contemporary artistic creativity.
2. Sculpture concentration: the basic skills and rules associated with sculptural construction and formations are studied within the foundational academic rules, and then the subsequent stylistic extensions related to modernist and postmodern formation and configurations.
3. Ceramic concentration: students learn the skills of forming, moulding, and basic ceramic formation.
4. Multimedia design concentration: students study the basic design skills through the use of multimedia, and are exposed to contemporary multimedia methods in the form of graphic and mobile design applications that harness the latest developments in computers media.
5. Interior design concentration: students learn the basic skills and rules related to interior design, such as ways to build interior configurations and spaces, as well as the relative engineering rules. Moreover, they acquire the key skills of creative thinking and develop in-depth knowledge about the materials and accessories needed to produce effective interior design projects. This is taken into account when placing all of the concentrations within one comprehensive framework under the heading of visual arts (as a general specialisation). Students are also briefed in the supporting theoretical aspects, such as the aesthetic and creative culture necessary to produce integrated creations in the mentioned fields in which technical and theoretical knowledge is integrated. The focus is on broadening horizons and enhancing knowledge and creative thinking.
Vision: The department aspires to contribute to emphasising the importance of the role of art and design in society. It also seeks to crystallise a new perception of art in our society that does not view art as separate from the individual's social, economic, cultural, and other needs. It aims to stimulate creativity and scientific innovation and imagination by producing a complete and quality contemporary visual arts programme.
Mission: The Department of Visual Arts has been shown to prepare talented students for artistic careers by emphasising learning in a positive university environment, thus confirming the role of the department in the field of art and design education in Jordan. Focusing on innovation in all aspects, the department provides advanced technical education thanks to its skilled faculty and staff, its scientific and technical resources, and its specialised workshops in various areas of the arts. In its curricula and materials, the department combines advanced skills, artistic self-expression, in-depth thinking, and appropriate concept development. The department seeks to raise the status of the fine arts and establish itself in the creative, productive, and developmental arena.

The BA program in Music focuses on refining and developing students' skills in various musical arts disciplines. The program plan has been recently improved to incorporate new specialties that meet the needs of the growing music industry.
The program specialties are as follows:
1- Performance
2- Composition and Conducting
3- Music Education
4- Arab/Western singing
5- Art Management
While each specialty entails specific courses, all specialties share department requirement courses which establish basic musical knowledge in music theory, history, reading and others.
Vision:
The department contributes to the reinforcing the role of Arts, and particularly music, in society, as art is essential for fulfilling an individual's cultural, social, or economic needs. The department also fosters creativity as a necessary constituent of the arts and artistic professions.
Mission:
The department aims to educate students in achieving a high degree of proficiency in music as a profession and as a discipline. The department also seeks to motivate and refine students' innovation skills, which is consistent with the advanced qualifications of faculty members in the department, as well as the financial resources provided by the university including musical instruments, recording devices, and others. The department also seeks to elevate the status of the Arts in the community through the continuous participation in local and international events

Development of the learning outcomes is promoted through the following teaching and learning methods:
The performance and presentation of the musical works in the competitive atmosphere of music concerts held periodically in the Faculty of Arts and Design, as well as through local, regional, and international participations. Students also learn through the constructive criticism of their performance. The introduction of modern methods of blended learning, and plan to offer exchange programs in accordance with university strategies will further promote student learning outcomes.
|
Opportunities to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes are provided through the following assessment methods:
- Practical and written exams, as well as assignments and presentations.
- Music performances inside and outside the university.
- Monitoring academic results across successive semesters.
