The Department of Music held its annual concert on Monday, May 19th, 2014, in the Samir Al-Rifa’I auditorium at the University of Jordan. The concert was under the auspices of the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design Dr. Keram Nimri, and in the presence of his deputy, head of the Music Department, a number of faculty members and many students. The concert featured different musical pieces varied between Arab and Western styles, and between the individual and collective playing performed by the students and faculty members.
The concert started with the national anthem chanted in three voices and performed by the Arts & Design Concert Choir conducted by Eve Sada Omeish, followed by a number of classical pieces in three voices in different languages such as English, German, and Japanese representing different styles and eras.
The Concert also included a number of prices performed by the students and faculty members in solo and duet. The Arabic ensemble concluded with some Arabic songs led by Miss Oubaidah Madi, the songs represented Arabic musical heritage.
It is noteworthy that the Music Department sought through the diversity in the concert program to improve the students’ skills in vocal and instrumental performances, as well as to broaden their experience in performing various Arab and Western forms. The department also sought to raise the music appreciation abilities of the students from the various disciplines.
